Range calculator
The maths, if you want it
It is just Pythagoras. a² + b² = c², where a is the
difference in X, b is the difference in Y, and c is
the distance across the map. Multiply by 100 to get metres.
Show the working for the current shot
Enter both coordinates to see the working.
The guide says "read the first three numbers" of the square root, which works up to 999 m. Multiplying by 100 is the same rule and keeps working past that, which matters once you are on the artillery.
Following the video and getting 412 where this says 413? Both are fine. The video rounds 1.35 × 1.35 down to 1.82 on the calculator display and then reads the first three digits of the root, which trims a little off each time. The exact answer is 412.7 m. At a metre apart it makes no difference to where the shell lands — the RNG dial is far coarser than that.

Getting your coordinates
- Zoom all the way in on your gun.
- Right-click, Mark Coordinates. Chat opens.
- Ctrl+A, then Ctrl+C.
- Paste into A above. Repeat on the target for B.
Putting the shot down
- Middle-click the target to drop the white diamond marker.
- Swing the gun until the diamond is centred.
- Set RNG on the left to the range below.
- Between two notches? Split the difference.
Reading the map
Each small square is 10 m. Zoom out until the 100 m lines appear if you would rather eyeball it — but expect to burn two or three shells finding the range, and the first one tells the enemy you are there.
Watch the terrain
The range can be perfect and the shell still clips a tower, a tree or a ridge on the way down. If a shot lands short against an obstacle, the maths is not wrong — move your aim off the obstruction, and remember that changes the distance, so run it again.
Bombarding an area
Load three shells with R. Press C to skip the killcam so you can fire again immediately, nudging your aim a little between each one. You can also reload during the killcam, so a base can be kept under fire continuously for as long as the ammo lasts.
